Back to Greenland

Having placed the largest online order I've ever done at IKEA, it is finally time for a vacation. The house where we can live in for a year will get the new furniture in about 1.5 months. We are really looking forward to make use of it!

In the Netherlands and Germany, we have spoken in different churches over the past two months. Additionally we had about 5 interviews and we have even been on national Christian radio. We also have had the opportunity to present the Gospel in a 'religion-class’ in Germany. We hope that this has all contributed to the work here in Greenland. It truly is a land of extremes: surreal beauty in nature, but also a deep (often hidden) darkness keeps many in its grip.

I recently read that over 80% of the people (in the world) come to know Jesus because of the fact that they have heard a testimony from friends or family. Something that Jesus has done in their lives. This week we heard about a healing that the Lord had done. One woman had suffered for years from infections under the eyes (very painful!). When we returned recently, we heard from her that she was flown to the capital of Greenland for surgery. Unfortunately, that operation was canceled. However, the good news was that the problem was completely gone! Praise God! She contributed the healing to what God had done during a sunday service.

These events help people to see that Jesus is relevant and alive. But it also encourages us to continue to go on in God's power. It is God who confirms the Gospel strongly and that is of great value!

Now it is time for some holiday and that means that we will immerse a bit in the Greenlandic culture. We go out with friends on their boat and we are enjoying fishing and hunting. The national delicacies slowly arise on our menu. Then you can think about fresh trout, but also the equivalent of Dutch cow meat*.
